"A ship in a harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for". This famous quote by Shedd has been floating in the air for quite some time. Quite representative of this intangible array of emotions, can be seen and felt by students studying abroad.
JAM Campus Abroad's recent Roundtable Conference addressed some of the issues that have been a constant priority among students who study in foreign universities. Higher Education Institutions in Europe, the UK, Canada, and the US are facing significant challenges with growing demand for student housing, both on and off campus.
It has been noticed that increasing rental prices for student accommodation and overall living expenses are major concerns for scholars, educators, and administrators alike.
As experienced counselors, JAM also sought to understand how universities support international students through peer interactions and alumni networks. This discussion highlighted the benefits of offering a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports and cultural programs, to ensure a holistic experience for their students. The conference sought to emphasize the efforts of foreign universities in creating an enriching environment for their international student community.
The hour-and-a-half-long panel discussion and conference held on 25th September 2024 was graced by Heads of IB schools and Representatives from universities in Germany and Switzerland to confer these challenges at Meluha The Fern - An Ecotel Hotel, Powai, Mumbai.
The esteemed panelists included Mr. Frank Braccia, (Head of school, Gold Crest International School Vashi), Ms. Greta Frey (Director of International Student Recruitment, at SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern - School of Hotel Management, Switzerland. ), Mr. Pankaj Sangle (Country Manager, International School of Management, Germany.) and Mr. Yatin Bansal (CEO, JAM Campus Abroad).
The forum also attracted students interested in pursuing foreign education.
